Saying goodbye to our children

Saying goodbye. Family Reunion in the Park

A gathering of many generations from both sides of the family.

Saying Goodbye

Our house is rented and we are living for a short time, too short with family in Hawaii. Time to kick off our slippers, let tropical flowers be just a memory and put on our walking shoes. Destination Rancagua, Chile.

Opening Our Call to the Chile Rancagua Mission

Our mail had been forwarded to Hawaii. This was our last stop as we visited all of our children after being on a mission for two years in India. We were excited because until we opened our mail and read the call from the prophet, Thomas S. Monson, we would not be sure where we were going to serve. This moment was very sweet as it had been a long time coming.

Opening the mail box is an ending moment. Before that moment there was lots of planning, paper work, and medical appointments. For this mission everything flowed into place quickly. Our passports came in three days, the visits to the doctor tucked into the Christmas holidays and before we started the new year with our family in Hawaii the stake president had our paperwork in his computer ready to send in two months. He called the next morning and told us that he was sending everything in the morning. The time frame for senior missionaries had changed from six months ahead to nine months. Everything seemed to travel at rocket speed right up to the quiet, sunny morning when we peeked in the mailbox.
